The Bristol Youth Orchestra is the City’s flagship instrumental ensemble, comprising more than 70 members drawn from almost every secondary school in Bristol. The orchestra rehearses on Saturday mornings 9.30am – 12.30pm and stages regular performances at a variety of venues across Bristol including Colston Hall, St Georges Bristol and the Victoria Rooms.
Becoming part of the orchestra means that you are amongst the most talented young musicians in Bristol. Performing some of the great works in the orchestral repertoire in a friendly and supportive atmosphere, under the professional guidance of Conductor Eiron Bailey and an expert team of section tutors.
We are looking for Woodwind, Brass, Percussion and String Players of Grade 7 standard or above.
Auditions will be held on:
Saturday 24th June at Henbury School at 9.30am – 12.30pm
Monday 26th June at Bristol Cathedral Choir School at 3.00pm – 6.00pm
For the audition please prepare an unaccompanied piece of music of your choosing, which you feel reflects your current playing standard. You will also be given a short extract to sight-read and will be asked to play one or two scales.
