Workforce

A New Ambition recognises that a strong workforce needs support in two ways: High quality, relevant training and time to reflect as a community of practice. There are three roles for practitioners involved in musical activity on A New Ambition: Trainees, Music Leaders and Activists and all receive an unprecedented level of support over the course of the programme.

Trainees work alongside the rest of the team and are mentored by the Activist throughout the year. They keep reflective diaries of their experiences and are assessed at key points throughout the year to track their levels of skill and confidence. Music Leaders are all experienced atworking with young people in challenging circumstances and are committed to developing their own practice and that of those around them. As reflective practitioners, their work is delivered in line with the Youth Music Quality Framework ‘Plan, Do, Review.’ Activists are individual practitioners responsible for quality assurance and liaison between the project teams and BPM Management. They act as mentors to the Trainees and feed any learning and effective practice into the overall programme strategy.
