Bristol Centre for Musicians
Bristol Cathedral Choir School, College Square, Bristol, BS1 5TS
Bristol Centre for Musicians is home to BPM’s family of bands, ensembles and orchestras. Young musicians can join a range of age and level appropriate ensembles and bands which progress to the Bristol Youth Orchestra, widely regarded as one of the best youth orchestras in the South West. Led by conductor Eiron Bailey, the Bristol Youth Orchestra is a member of the Association of British Orchestras and has a close association with Colston Hall as a Young Company in Residence.
All BPM bands and ensembles have an excellent reputation in the city for producing talented musicians. Musicians have the opportunity to progress through the ensembles as their playing develops. Sessions are split between sectional coaching and performance rehearsals. Performances take place approximately three times a year in venues including Colston Hall, the Victoria Rooms and St George’s Bristol.
Bristol Bridge Orchestra is for all young musicians (strings, wind, brass & percussion) and gives everyone a chance to experience playing as part of a full orchestra. Once musicians feel ready, they are able to move on to the Bristol Youth Chamber Orchestra (strings only) and Bristol Youth Wind Ensemble (wind, brass & percussion), and provides musicians with an opportunity to hone their chamber music playing at a more advanced level.
**New for 2019/20**
Senior Percussion Ensemble is open to experienced drummers and percussionists, catering specifically for the development and exploration of orchestral percussion and wider-ranging instruments in the percussion family.
