Bristol Youth Jazz Orchestra has a fantastic reputation for producing young jazz musicians. Working from a beginner level, it’s a jazz band for instrumentalists rehearsing and performing a wide range of repertoire.
Bristol Youth Jazz runs on a Monday from 6.00 – 7.15pm at BPM’s Music Centre West in Southmead.
It’s a friendly group for beginner and intermediate players from Year 5 upwards, to begin playing Jazz, improvising and composing as a group.
The sessions are led by saxophonist and pianist Julian Tucker.
We will be playing and singing tunes in a wide variety of world, funk, pop, reggae and jazz styles and there is tuition in improvisation and ensemble playing skills. Students can try out new things in a relaxed and encouraging environment with informal band performances and sharing events throughout the year.
All instrumentalists and singers with a basic knowledge of music notation are welcome.
