For the last masterclass of the year we are looking forward to welcoming Cerys Jones.

She now enjoys a distinguished career as a soloist, chamber musician and leader of London session orchestras.  Cerys was a member of of the celebrated Heath Quartet for 7 years, with whom she won the 2016 Gramphone, 2013 RPS Young Artists, Borletti-Buitoni and Nord Metal Mecklenberg-Vorpommern chamber music awards.  Cerys is professor at both Guildhall School of Music and Drama and the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama.

Our accompanist on the night is Claire Alsop.  Claire studied music at Bristol University, during which time she was an Organ scholar at Bristol Cathedral.  On graduating, Claire was appointed Organist of Cheltenham Ladies College, where she worked until 2001.  She gained FRCO diploma in 2006, winning the Turpin Prize.  Claire is assistant organist at St Mary Redcliffe Church and enjoys a range of music making including teaching, ABRSM examining, accompanying and solo work, and has broadcast live on both BBC Radio 3 and BBC 1.

Each event takes place in the Cresswell Theatre at Bristol Cathedral Choir School and starts at 5.30pm, with a short informal recital from the visiting artists.  This is followed by an open masterclass until 8pm, in which advanced students perform and receive coaching, everyone is encouraged to watch.
