Calling all double bass, cello and tuba players!
Try your hand at playing the double bass at this half day session where you will receive expert coaching and take part in an ensemble playing workshop on this giant instrument of musical expression.
Historically, many jazz and classical musicians have played both the tuba and the double bass. Where as the double bass was always seen as the ‘indoor’ bass instrument, whilst the tuba was used for outdoor performances. Both produce a lovely, mellow sound, in the same range, and play low, melodic lines.
Everyone taking part will have the opportunity to play the bass in a bass ensemble, using accessible and fun arrangements suited to their ability. Its also a fantastic opportunity to have a go at one of our ‘endangered’ instruments and play alongside our specialist tutors.
